The results of the CPDM reorganisation exercise nationwide has been made public amidst open anger from some militants. According to field reports, the Secretary General of the Party, Jean Nkuete kept aside most of the decisions taken by the 2015 Central Committee Supervisory Commission for the reorganisation exercise in favor of his own group. Correspondingly, disputes recorded were sidelined for obvious reasons. Cameroon Concord Intelligence Unit gathered that a report from Prof. Joseph Owona who headed the CPDM delegation to the Far North Region suggesting that results in 7 constituencies be cancelled and a re-run be carried out because of gross irregularities was rejected by Hon. Jean Nkuete on grounds that the image of the party will be tarnished deep within the diaspora.
A delegation from the North West Region chaired by Regina Mundi and Fon Aneng could not be received in Yaounde by the Secretary General on grounds that Mr Nkete was attending a meeting. The two North West CPDM emissaries carried in their file suggestions that the party hierarchy should transparently examine all petitions from the region. When they returned to Bamenda after a failed mission to Yaounde, some disgruntled party militants in Mezam 1V, Bafut staged a protest march at the Divisional office and forwarded a petition through the DO to the Secretary General and copied the Prime Minister.
The protesters throw stones at former Governor Fai Yengo Francis, Prof. Angwafor and Co. whom they claimed did not listen to the militants during the electoral process despite massive boycott of the November 2015 renewal execise. In Kumba and Buea, tempers are yet to settle for the mere reason that official results are now determined by the party’s newspaper, L’Action. The Mayor of Buea, Ekema Patrick and his supporters despite the protest march are still leaking the wounds of defeat. The stability of the party in some localities such as Mamfe and Eyumojcok is hanging on the balance, some reports have suggested. It will be recalled that when the reorganisation exercise came to a close last November 2015, allegations of fraud, intimidation, vote rigging, corruption, disenfranchisement and a host of other electoral malpractices were reported across the country. These shortcomings fell short of a clarion call from the party chair, Paul Biya for fair play before, during and after the reorganisation exercise.

The Chairman of the Social Democratic Front, Cameroon's leading opposition party has condemned the unhealthy rivalry that has rocked the party in recent years. Fru Ndi said that he was at a lose to see some of the SDF MPs alongside Mayors being accused by the electorate for unfulfilled promises as the case with Hon Ndong Larry of Menchum North constituency and the long standing leadership problems in the Littoral Regional bureau. Chairman Ni Fru Ndi has set a deadline to end the crisis in the Littoral Regional Bureau on February 21, 2016.
The Chairman was visibly not satisfied with the abortive attempts by various National Executive Committee [NEC] members dispatched to the Littoral since 2013 to put an end to the disturbing situation . Our source in Bamenda hinted that Mr. Fru Ndi is not happy with the 1st National Chair, Osieh Joshua for encouraging the bitterness within the party. The Littoral bureau discrepancy started in 2013 when a group addressed a petition to NEC on the activities of the Littoral Chairman, Hon. Nintcheu. The petitioners who were predominantly officials of the Douala I and V electoral districts claimed Hon Nintcheu’s four year mandate had expired but he was still hanging on to power. Hon Nintcheu for his part said those who were protesting against his leadership were CPDM militants in SDF clothing.
On the strength of all these, NEC ordered a reorganisation exercise that started from the Wards to the Regional bureau. This however did not hold due to the municipal and parliamentary elections of that same year. Events took a dramatic u turn when Hon Asapgngu, delegated by NEC to oversee the elections later in 2014 was withdrawn when the Nintcheu camp alleged he was corrupt. The SDF decided to send Senator Tsomelou to handle the issue. The decision was celebrated by Nintcheu and his group who shortly turned against him when he recognized an earlier election that was staged by Asapgngu.
Last year, the SDF decided that two senior members, Hon. Awudu Mbaya and Vaniganeen Mo Chiggle were to join Senator Tsomelou to handle the crisis. A meeting was then held with the opposing camps to arrange a date for the elections. Hon. Awudu Mbaya shied away immediately after an election date was fixed for December 12, 2015. The confusion continued when some members claimed no date was agreed for the elections during a NEC meeting that held on Saturday, 14 November, 2015.Chairman Fru Ndi has decided to put an end to the Douala crisis this February 21, 2016.How he intends to do it is a matter of wait and see.

The unthinkable is already happening in Cameroon as President Biya, 83 is slowly but surely lobbying barons of his ruling crime syndicate into endorsing his candidacy for the 2018 presidential elections. These last weeks have been marked by calls coming from CPDM Senators and MPs apealing to him to run again for president. Recently, 36 former civil administrators acting under the banner of an obscure organization known as the 1997-1999 batch of the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM ) headed by Dieudonné Samba, Special Adviser to the President of the Republic, urged Paul Biya to run for a new presidential term.
The President of the Senate, Marcel Niat Njifenji and a gang of Senators have also invited Paul Biya to run for another term. Senator Bell Luc Rene who was given a sack by Biya and humiliated by the regime putting an end to his very brilliant administrative career has also joined the the group of Biya acolytes clamouring for a new mandate for the Cameroonian dictator. The first call to Mr Biya came from CPDM elites of the South region teleguided by Martin Belinga Eboutou, Director of the Civil Cabinet at the Presidency.
Cameroon Concord is aware that these calls are coming mainly from close associates of the President of the Republic and can not therefore be seen as an independent initiative. Biya came to power on Nov. 6, 1982, succeeding the late Ahmadou Ahidjo when he was only 49 years old. This year, Paul Biya is in his 34th year as head of state. In 2018, he will be 85 years old.

Priority will be given to the fight against terrorism which has led to the death of scores of Cameroonian military and civilians despite major victories that has reduced the operational capacity of the terrorist movement. In order to attain the objective, the military hierarchy has recommended discipline within the ranks of the army. The Defence Chief of Staff, Lt General Rene Claude Meka presented the agenda of Cameroon’s defence forces for 2016 during a new wishes ceremony at the Ministry Head Quarters in Yaoundé.
During the event he strongly condemned the September 9th, 2015 protest match staged by some soldiers who were part of the Cameroon contingent of the stabilisation mission in the Central African Republic. He described the demonstrations on the streets of Yaoundé as an unimaginable gross violation of the statutory text of regulating Cameroon’s defence forces. Lt General Rene Claude Meka in this light called on senior military officers to severely sanction all forms of indiscipline within the Cameroon army. “Pirate attacks, incursions in the East region resulting from the instability in the Central African Republic are not as preoccupying as the fight against Boko Haram which is now asymmetric” the defence chief of staff noted.
The enemy’s fire power has been seriously weaken and they have now resorted to suicide attacks. We don’t know when the war will end but we have upgraded our resources, logistics and equipment to efficiently eradicate the terrorist, he added. The Defence Chief of Staff used the occasion to salute the bravery of vigilante groups that have worked alongside the defence forces to thwart attacks by the terrorists. The ceremony which ended with a common meal began with a review of the just ended year by the deputy Army Chief of staff.
