Anglophone crisis: Chief Abang Ashu 'hanged for betraying his people '
A chief in the South West region of Cameroon has been reportedly hanged by the youths of his village for betraying the struggle.
Chief Abang Ashu of Big Nyang village in Akwaya subdivision was murdered in an "evil forest", reports say.
The chief was reportedly caught with a list of young people which he was going to hand to officials from La Republique du Cameroun.
This is the first chief to be hanged by his own people for what they call high treason since the start of the unrest in Southern Cameroons.
In the meantime, there are reports on social media that president Paul Biya has addressed his condolences on Facebook to bereaved families in Southern Cameroons.
It's not clear if Mr Biya is actually the author of such messages.
But some people see it as a good step towards inclusive dialogue.
