Anglophone Crisis: Patience Tamfu, CPDM section president in the US, facing death threats
Daughter of the former Transport Minister under Ahidjo’s reign, Patience Tamfu, is reported to have been receiving death threats from unknown individuals.
These threats sprung from the march she organised on the 1st of September 2017, calling on parents back in Cameroon to send their children to school. Tamfu wanted to send a message to Cameroonians “people do not need to use their children as a means to achieve their political objectives” she stated. This call was vigorously counteracted by a group of Southern Cameroonians who stormed the embassy in Washington DC, where she had organised the event under the theme “one Cameron for peace”.
Days later after her march, she was frayed to see blood freezing photos of herself on social networks, some of them having her head marked with a red cross, indirectly telling her that her days were numbered. She equally received strange text messages and calls from people telling her to get her coffin set.
It did not only end at her level in the United States, it extended to her family members in Cameroon. One of her brothers had to flee Bamenda to Yaounde after receiving threats on his life too.
