Back to School Backlash: Ambazonian Governing Council Sends Out Message Of Encouragement
The Governing Council of Southern Cameroons/Ambazonia is overjoyed by the great act of affirmation expressed by the Southern Cameroons Ambazonia community today, Monday September 4th, 2017.
In adhering strictly to the call for ghost towns and nonviolence from the Governing Council, you have demonstrated to the government of La Republique and to the international community that you do not take orders from the occupiers anymore.
By this act, you have also sent out a clear message; that you want your homeland back. The international community and media that have been monitoring the event have understood the message clearly.
Dear people, the Governing Council is committed to a peaceful resolution of this crisis. We are trusting God and the international community for a speedy and civilized resolution.
The speed with which this happens shall be determined by our determination to frustrate the regime in Yaounde. Re-member that the Prime Minister of La Republique told us in Bamenda during his last desperate attempt that we were embarrassing his government by refusing to send children to school. Also, be reminded that instead of withdrawing French speaking teachers from our classrooms as was agreed upon with the unions, Yaounde has added more even during their last postings and transfers.
This is a clear signal to us that if we fail now, then the future shall cease to exist for our children. Therefore, we must hold the forte. The key and for now, most effective weapon we have at our disposal is ghost towns and school shutdown, as speed up our diplomatic offensive to achieve the restoration of the independence of Southern Cameroons.
We condemned in the hardest terms the shooting to death of a teenager in the village of Kifem, Kumbo in Bui County. Such excesses, which we had warned would be exacted on our people during this period that Yaounde is spoiling for war, demonstrate unambiguously the need for quick outside intervention.
This week and month are very important for the struggle. The UN General Assembly is in session as from September 12. We must maintain the resistance while they are in session. We must make sure that ghost towns are respected as prescribed; three days a week and continue to keep the children home until after the basic demands made by the unions and the Common Lawyers Associations are met to the last one, as well as the total and unconditional release of all abducted. The Governing Council once more commits itself to announce the date of school resumption in our territory as soon as Yaound6 satisfies the above. This could happen sooner than later.
Let the resistance continue. God is with us and for us.
