Unveiling Tomorrow's Cameroon Through Today's News

Breaking

The Department of English Law has just been created in the faculties of Law and Political Science of the University of Douala, University of Maroua, University of Dschang and University of Ngaoundere, as well as a department of French Private Law in the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the  University of Bamenda, and the University of Buea.
The message read on the state-run broadcaster, CRTV, is contained in a series of orders issued by the Minister of Higher, Jacques Fame Ndongo.

This is the execution of a series of promises made by the Minister of Justice during one of his outings in a bit to solve the concerns raised by Southern Cameroons.

Laurent Esso had pledged the creation of these departments in those universities on the 30 of  March 2017. The Department of Common Law was  to be created at the Advanced School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM).

This move follows the current strike atmosphere in Southern Cameroons. Common Law lawyers started the unrest for reasons closely linked to what they call the undue invasion of their legal system by the Francophone legal culture and legal practitioners.

The move is one among a host of steps to be followed in order to curb the unrest in Southern Cameroons.

The people are still demanding the unconditional release of all the detainees connected to the strike.

Meanwhile some Christians are planning to invade court premises in Bamenda on Monday when the trial of some men of God starts.

Internet services were reinstated in the Anglophone regions yesterday on President Biya’s orders after more than three months of blackout. Government had blamed the blackout on the people’s use of the internet to spread false information of social media.
