Traders respecting ghost town in Buea have been described as ‘secessionists’
Mayor of Buea Council Patrick EKEMA Esunge Angered by the fact that many shops have remained permanently closed despite a recent march against ghost towns, describe traders who close their shops on ghost town days in his municipality as ‘secessionists’.
The ghost town has remain a nightmare to the Mayor of Buea Council Patrick EKEMA Esunge Patrick EKEMA Esunge says ‘‘ghost towns have been less effective these days but some ‘secessionists’ around Molyko are still adhering to the strike action orchestrated by the Cameroon Anglophone Civil Society Consortium”.
Mayor Ekema, an agent of the Francophone political elites noted that areas like Buea town, Bongo Square are not in any way observing ghost town as shops were wide open on Monday and the Buea town Market was booming with traders and buyers present for their daily activities. Some protesters are determined to continue with ghost towns until the all those who were illegally arrested and detained are freed.‘‘The ghost town cannot stop just because of some selfish interest people and manipulators.
The struggle continues; our brothers and fathers are in prisons, we don’t even know how they are doing and one so call mayor a traitor is trying to call off the strike. I think he needs deliverance. As for me I will respect the ghost towns until the people detained are release’’ says an angry shop owner.
