As the consortium president, Barrister Agbor Balla Felix and its Secretary General, Dr. Fontem Neba dragged forcefully to court without their defence team today January 25, 2017, fears are rife that the arrested intellects together with some detained and yet to be arrested Anglophones might be charged with the newly promulgated and highly criticized 2014 anti-terrorism law.
The law which received both national and international condemnation was described by the government as a tool to crack down on the dreaded Islamic terror group, Boko Haram. But political commentators believe in a bid to install fear and frustrated by its inability to exalt control over the North West and South West Regions, the government will charge the arrested Anglophones who have been out spoken or play figure head role in the current political stair with the law on the suppression of acts of terrorism.
The anti-terrorism law No.2014/028 of 23 December 2014 on the suppression of acts of terrorism in Cameroon states partially that “whoever, acting alone as an accomplice or accessory, commits or threatens to commit an act likely to cause death, endanger physical integrity, cause body injury or material damage, destroy natural resource, the environment or cultural heritage with intent to…intimidate the public, provoke a situation of terror…disrupt the national functioning of public services…create widespread insecurity in the country, shall be punished with a death penalty…” .
While the number of arrested Anglophone youths in prison is yet to be established, it should equally be noted that the Advocate General at the Supreme Court, Justice Ayah Paul Abine together with the initiator of the Bamenda coffin revolution which turned violent, Mancho BBC were equally arrested and are been healed in Yaounde.
It should be recalled that on January 20, 2017 after appearing before the military tribunal in Yaounde, the banned consortium president was charged with terrorism, rebellion against the state, incitement of civil unrest and breach of the constitution. As for his Secretary General, Dr. Fontem Neba, he was charged with conspiracy to terrorism, rebellion against the state, incitement of civil unrest and breach of the constitution.
From all fairness and cross examining the charges levied on them, Agbor Balla and Fontem Neba together with all arrested Anglophones might have a death penalty hanging on their necks. The law which received a lot of criticism since its promulgation had been passed only on suspected Boko Haram terrorist. If all goes as political watchdogs anticipate, the above mentioned personalities might be the first to have a feel of the dreaded law.

Preparations for Zimbabwean President Mugabe’s 93rd birthday celebrations are underway and according to the ruling Zanu-PF youth league it should be celebrated like Christmas Day.
The party’s national youth leader, Kudzai Chipanga declared that Mugabe’s birthday should not be treated like an “ordinary day” since to them the veteran leader is “The Messiah”, NewsDay reports.
Mugabe’s birthday falls on February 21. This year the nonagenarian is turning 93.
“To us, February 21 is not just a day. To us, it is a special day we treat in the same manner Christians treat December 25, the birthday of Jesus Christ. I don’t want to be blasphemous, but in my humble view, President Mugabe is second to Jesus Christ. He is our saviour, so his birthday means a lot for us the youths of Zimbabwe,” he said.
Chipanga also hailed Mugabe’s wisdom, adding that he was the only person who could steer the southern African country from its current economic situation.
Zanu-PF youths had set a fund-raising target for this year’s celebrations – but it appeared to be lower than normal. Their target is 25,000 USD from the country’s 10 provinces. It is less than what was raised last year.
Each province was expected to raise $25 000 towards the event which was set to be held in the Matopos National Park.
Last year youths were reportedly told to raise $30 000 from each province though some had difficulty meeting the target.

Paul Biya and his crooked advisers have issued an arrest warrant for Tapang Ivo, who acts as Interim Consortium leader ever since the arrest of Barrister Agbor Balla who was the President of the consortium.The news first went viral earlier on Tuesday, 24 January 2017 on press review, a program that runs on canal2 international.It was the main headlines of a French newspaper in Cameroon.There have been numerous reactions to the news within Anglophone circles on social media.Tapang Ivo himself reacted to the news by addressing President Paul Biya directly.Below is a press statement he released on his Facebook wall;
Dear Paul Biya,
You can send the best of your journalists to vilify and demonize me. But they will never show, investigate or present any shred of evidence that I have ever called for violence or sought a regime-change in Cameroun or Cameroon.
Did I ever ask for a regime change? Did I ever call anyone to pick up pick up arms?
All my posts are on Facebook. Go and research about me since 10 years ago and beyond. I have always stood and preached for good governance, the rule of law, democratic accountability. I am an unrepentant advocate those values including positive peace.
You see Mr. Paul, I have always defined journalism as the ability to hold power to account. Of what use is a citizen to any country if he or she cannot hold power to account? Some of your local French journalists lack every journalistic ability and credibility. In fact, they practice pay- for-play or pay- for-publish.
You cannot succeed with your smear propaganda against this winning struggle that you vaguely call "revolution." A revolution against what? Against you? Wrong! Stop feeding LIES to your few and decreasing followers.
You are insignificant to us. In truth, the struggle is not against ANY HUMAN. Our Francophones remain our brothers and sisters. The struggle is against the suppression of universally accepted values, gross poverty and bad governance in West Cameroon, and the clear abuse of equal rights for all in a gangster "unitary system."
Do you know that even Francophones are the poorest in the country? I pity how they've been surviving without roads, hospitals, better life, etc., for 34 years. Terrible and impossible!
Will Federalism not benefit you, me, them, us, we, wuna, etc.? You are a rogue, Mr. Paul.
Likewise, my people have the full right to seek self-determination which is an inalienable right. My people have suffered much pain. We cannot see that happen again. They must resist you alone if you deny to dialogue on their problemssssss+.
When did inclusive dialogue with all relevant parties become a crime? Under whose law? Your Hammurabi law? Take a break!
Now, I see you have started setting the agenda for my arrest through your cheap and poorly presented gombo paper. Crafting headlines like "WANTED" is childish. Wanted by who? By you local dictator or the "newspaper" for a job?
Grow up, Mr. Paul. Or if you are already grown, then resign.
Violence cannot drive out violence. Only peace can do that. Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that.
We come with the light to flush out your darkness. We come with peace to flush out your violence. Are you shocked that our peaceful approaches could paralyze the entire country and make your terrorist soldiers jobless? This is the tip of the iceberg.
You see, Sir, the difference between the French- speaking Cameroonian and the English-speaking Cameroonian is that while the French one is taught how to follow leadership like a sheep, the English culture teaches us how to question power and hold leadership accountable.
How does that make us "terrorists?" We are freedom fighters from dictatorship and tyranny.
*** My name is TAPANG IVO TANKU. Salute our brothers and sisters for me lest I forget.

Terrible reportage.

Speaking on Sengalese radio, elected President Adama Barrow said there appeared to be an absence of state funds following the exit of Yahya Jammeh. The deal Jammeh struck to exit the Gambia may make him untouchable.
Gambian ex-President Yahya Jammeh drained state coffers before he fled the country, newly inaugurated President Adama Barrow said on Sunday.
President Barrow said on Sunday he would return to the Gambia "soon." Spokesperson Halifa Sallah said by Monday Barrow would begin forming a Cabinet and work with Gambia's national assembly to reverse the state of emergency Jammeh declared in his final days in power.
The former leader Jammeh flew into exile late Saturday in Equatorial Guinea, which is not a state party to the International Criminal Court, ending weeks of tension in the West African nation.
'The Gambia is in financial distress'
But before he fled Jammeh plundered the state's funds, Barrow alleged on Sengalese radio on Sunday.
"According to information we received, there is no money in the coffers. It's what we have been told, but the day we actually take office we will clarify all of it," Barrow told "RFM."
A senior adviser of Barrow said Jammeh stole US$11.4 million (10.6 million euros) in his final weeks in power and flew luxury vehicles out by cargo plane.
"The Gambia is in financial distress. The coffers are virtually empty. That is a state of fact," Mai Ahmad Fatty told journalists in Senegal. "It has been confirmed by technicians in the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of the Gambia."
Jammeh had refused to hand over power despite losing his mandate, prompting a six-week crisis during which Barrow took refuge in neighboring Senegal, fearing for his safety.
A delegation of West African leaders backed by armed forces eventually convinced Jammeh to relinquish the presidency. Jammeh lost the support of Gambia's military during the stand-off, but was reportedly surrounded by mercenaries in a heavily fortified compound.
As Barrow was poised to enter Gambia, scores of West African soldiers entered the city on Sunday amid cheering crowds as part of a mission to secure the country and allow the president to safely take up office.
Protection from prosecution?
Jammeh, the leader of 22 years, demanded protection from future prosecution and the right to contest future elections in Gambia, in exchange for leaving the country. It was unclear whether those conditions were granted.
A member of Barrow's coalition rejected claims they had signed a declaration for Jammeh that was supported by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
"Gambia will neither respect nor honor what was contained in that joint declaration," said Mai Ahmad Fatty, an executive member of Barrow's coalition. "We don't consider it legally binding on us."
He said Barrow had seen what they understood to be a draft document and rejected it as a "non-starter."
"I was very shocked to learn from Facebook that the document we had rejected was already posted at the websites of both ECOWAS and the AU [African Union]."
Senegalese Foreign Minister Mankeur Ndiaye said that no promises of immunity had been made towards the former leader.
"President Jammeh and his team concocted a declaration to be endorsed by (regional bloc) ECOWAS, the United Nations and the African Union that gave him every guarantee, essentially impunity," Ndiaye said.
"This declaration was signed by no one," he added.
International rights lawyer Reed Brody said the declaration "doesn't give him an amnesty, and under international law in fact you can't amnesty certain crimes like torture and massive or systematic political killings."
"Depending where Jammeh ends up, though, the real obstacles to holding him accountable will be political," he wrote in an email.
