Full Statement:
Dear Comrades in the struggle to right wrongs in our fatherland, on behalf of the coordination of teacher trade unions, I wish to assert here that the struggle we are engaged in is not a fight between anglophones and francophones. PLEASE, YOU GOT IT WRONG IF YOU GOT THAT FEELING.
The noble crusade is against the mismanagement of the anglophone cultural values in our bicultural setup. Note should be taken that in most cases, we have seen such cultural values mismanaged in the style of feudal lords of the medieval ages, not necessarily because official instructions were dished out to the effect.
Therefore, we take the pains to reiterate that this IS NOT A POINTED STRUGGLE BETWEEN ENGLISH SPEAKING AND FRENCH SPEAKING CHILDREN OF ONE GOD-GIVEN FATHERLAND, BUT A LOFTY EFFORT TO CORRECT STRUCTURAL AND SYSTEMIC MISTAKES FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL CAMEROONIAN CHILDREN AND OF OUR BELOVED FATHERLAND.
We cannot and should not be content when one injustice (francophone domination) is being replaced with another (anglophone arbitrariness/ madness).
Please, if what is being said about the persecution of francophones in Bambili is true, let us talk to our anglophone brothers and sister there to put an instant stop to this madness in an era of globalisation.
Let this message go viral on social media.

Despite heavy deployment of forces of law and order by the government to deter the population from taking to the streets especially as the government host the 2016 edition of the women AFCON.
Major Junctions in Bamenda were Blocked this evening by some angry youths who were ready to destroy any car that passed by.Some persons have been taken home in ambulances while others have decided to trek home, taking the possible road that will not expose them to the angry looking demonstrators.
Meantime Common Law Lawyers were perceived today putting on newly printed Black T shirts with inscription "ALL ANGLOPHONE LAWYERS AND EDUCATORS,THE DIASPORA IS WITH YOU 4 A FEDERAL CAMEROON"
Barrister Bobga Harmony ,President of North West Lawyers Association is seen in one of the pictures taken this day in Bamenda, flanked by his colleagues.
Security forces fired tear gas and live bullets in the air to disperse the striking population who instead got excited each time gun shots were fired in the air.
"There are reports of one dead, however, Cameroon Concord can't independently confirm".
Teachers who engaged in a sit down strike action are surprised at the level at which events are unfolding in Bamenda. The town of Bamenda is not far from the early signs of Rwandan genocide, state owned cars have been cleared from the road.Protesters have burnt down tyres, blocking roads with sticks, call boxes etc.
It seems the showdown of Pidgin news Caster MANCHO stimulated the population to rise against what they call lackluster attitude of the Government Delegate to the Bamenda City Council,Vincent NDUMU towards problems plaguing the city.
Calls have been made from all corners for the striking population not to be violent.
From all indications, the Bamenda strike is far beyond teachers strike. It has taken another dimension and other social setbacks are brought forward.

Thousands of English-speaking Cameroonians in the main opposition stronghold of Bamenda, Cameroon, are chanting "we are ready to die" if the military attempts to use violence on a nationwide peaceful protest against the marginalization of nearly 10 million citizens living in English-speaking regions.

Cameroon is poised at hosting its biggest peaceful strike action today, Monday.November 2016. About 8 million English-speaking citizens including 4 million internet users would be decrying more than 50 years of gross marginalization by unfavorable policies of the two French-speaking presidents who have ruled the nation since 1961.
Currently, the West African nation hosts the Women's African Cup of Nations amid a very unwelcoming atmosphere in all the English-speaking regions.
Most key positions and top schools in the country are reserved only for french-speaking citizens. Although the country has two official languages -- French and English, none of its leaders have ever publicly addressed the nation solely in English, giving a sense of non-belonging to the nearly 10 million marginalized citizens.
The English-speaking citizens are identifying themselves along the marginalization divide alone, and not by political, religious and cultural affiliations. The social media is their biggest rallying platform in the information war.

We, the leaders of the confederation of Anglophone Teacher Trade Unions and Initiators of the strike of 21/11/2016, have been reliably informed that some persons are plotting to sow seeds of confusion and havoc on that Monday. We are reliably told that some government officials with diabolical designs have called on persons representing hitherto sacred and sacrosanct traditional institutions and bastions to come out massively in a protest march against our strike tomorrow, 21/11/2016. We raise our voices to decry such further desecration of these already devalued traditional leaders. We remind them that nobody, no matter how strong nor no-nonsense, has ever won nor will ever win a battle against the people.
We are also getting calls and messages from teachers in the nooks and crannies of the Anglophone regions that some regional, divisional and school administrators, with an outlandish urge to safeguard their petty positions of authority are summoning snap meetings and threatening teachers! We take the patience to remind these enemies of the Anglophone commonwealth and wreckers of those lofty dreams and aspirations we are nurturing for our beloved fatherland that we are taking note and will start naming and shaming them – proclaiming them anathema–now and for posterity.
We maintain that the strike that we have called is a sit-in, not street demonstrations. Consequently, we take the opportunity to reiterate that our will not change its outlook. Let us not give the massed up troops the excuse to descend on helpless and hapless citizens, thus causing pain as is always the wont. Also, given the callously shameful tragedy of betrayal that was orchestrated by callous and shameless “Anglophone brothers” in Yaounde last Friday, teachers and their supporters, more than ever, have reason to have uploaded their mourning mood by Monday morning. Let us really mourn for this alienation forced on us in the only country we have as our beloved fatherland, Cameroon!
Our struggle, which advocates unity and decries vain efforts at uniformity, is clearly and definitely not for petty considerations like increased pay, but for an enhanced educational system, which will make the nation’s children at the end of their educational programmes more worthy and consequently render the nation stronger and more unified than ever before. Thus our motivating forces – the justice that we seek, the truth that we declare, the powerful national potential that we articulate… are really powerful. These powerful forces will undoubtedly rise against ALL traitors of the cause, in the manner of the biblical plagues.
Yes, we are convinced without an iota of doubt that our cause is God’s cause. And we declare, confident in the truism that the voice of the people is the voice of God, that He already stands stoutly for this cause and He will destroy all His enemies who also turn out to be enemies of our nation, Cameroon.
