A woman and the driver of a transport vehicle are currently in detention in Bafoussam after being caught with a huge quantity of bush meat.
They were arrested on Thursday night in Foumban during a routine patrol by forestry and wildlife officials.
The lady, owner of the cargo, has reportedly made failed attempts to buy her way out. But officials say justice must take its course.
The close to 300kg of meat seized is said to come from protected species like wild cats, antilopes, buffaloes and baboons.
Officials of the West Regional Delegation say hunting wild animals in the region is not prohibited.Hunters need to fulfil the necessary requirements.
It comes as a surprise that money is rejected because of 'justice', given that Cameroon is one of the most corrupt nations in the world.
And men in uniform are notorious in this light. This explains why competitive entrance examinations into police schools... are so coveted that a man can see his soul to have his name or his son's on the list.

The town of Bamenda has again witnessed a normal phenomenon of ‘‘self justice’’ when it concerns stealing but this time around it is not the public administering mob justice to a thief but a father to a son.
A man has his own son’s hands burned with fire for stealing One Hundred Thousand Francs from his bedroom. The man is said to be complaining that this it is not the first time the boy is doing so. He cited several instances which the boy had stolen his money and this time he was not going to stay put. He had kerosene applied to the minor’s hands and set them on fire.
The minor incurred injuries and is now hospitalized at the Regional Hospital in Bamenda while the father is under custody for inflicting wounds on the minor.
Domestic stealing amongst minors has been on the rise in the towns of Bamenda and Buea lately since children have not been going to school as a result of the Crisis going on in the two Anglophone regions of the Country.

This declaration was made by Bernard Tchouatang, a Cameroonian international player who played for the country from 1997-2001.
He accused the number one Cameroon football icon of casting a spell on one of their team mates, Joseph Desire Job, some 17 years ago, thereby preventing him from participating in the competition which took place in Ghana by then.
Following an interview granted to the sfr sport channel on Teusday 20 June, during one of their programs “Le Vestiare”, Tchouatang explained that, before leaving for Ghana, they had been training as a team with Desire Job being one of the key players, who would probably constitute the starting line up. Unfortunately for him as Bernard revealed, he fell sick. He developed automatic diarrhoea and stomach bite.
The accuser says “le pitcitchi” was behind the misfortune. He took his time to explain how Etoo might have gone about his divine machinations, to have Joseph Desire off the starting line up. He disclosed that in Ghana by that time, before they took their breakfast every morning, they had to wait for and greet everybody. On this faithful day, everyone had come together but for Samuel Etoo who came last. The Cameroonian international went on to say that, when Etoo arrived, he skipped greeting about six people and went straight to Desire Job and gave him a hand shake.
The handshake is what sparked up everything as hinted by Bernard Tchouatang, given that, immediately Desire left the table, he went straight to bed due to the pain which had suddenly developed within him. Following suit to this, was Etoo Fils’ brilliant performance all through that competition. He emerged highest goal scorer, a phenomenon which Tchouatang does not find normal.
Samuel Etoo Fils, on his own side did not just sit quiet “hatred is a feeling that can only exist in the absence of intelligence. Although exasperated by such declarations, I feel nothing but compassion for you, for I realise at this moment, the damage that jealousy and sourness can cause. It is common knowledge that my true magic has worked. False excuses however, are peculiar to the weak. Know my dear Bernard that, as long as there are people like you, ready to slander a brother, to impress the gallery, the respect that we Africans deserve and claim will remain a utopia”. That is what Etoo backlashed at Bernard Tchouatang.

A mesmerised public did not believe their eyes when they saw young Essombe Mabingo Mbonjo Jean Pierre, whom according to standards, is supposed to be in class six, present himself at Lycee Bilingue de Deido, as a probatoire candidate. He did not actually miss his way, as he was a legal and authorised candidate.
When approached after they had finished with their first session which started on 20 June 2017, he said that, they had just taken French and that the questions were moderate, so he at least hopes to make it in that subject.
The kid’s parents explained that, Essombe who was born prematurely, was already able to recite the multiplication timetable at the age of three. They further related that, after noticing what was happening, they didn’t see any reason why they should keep him home. So he was sent to school and by the age of 5, he was already a holder of the CEP(First School Leaving Certificate). He was about to sit in for BEPC(form four) at the age of 8, but the school administration was complicating the situation, saying he was too young. Nevertheless in the end he was allowed to sit in for the exam.
He emerged successful and headed for secondary Education, where he did not let anything disturb him from pursuing his studies. Observers say that, once he gets home from school and takes a rest, he picks up his books to read. As he is reading, he is doing research on the internet. In his class, they call him “Pythagoras” because of his prowess in Mathematics.

This desire of the government, especially that fashioned by the Governor of the Extreme North Region of Cameroon Midjiyawa Bakari, was reiterated during a visit he granted to refugees in Kolofata, marking the 17th edition of World Refugee day, which was celebrated Tuesday, 20 June 2017.
Before this day in Yaounde, the Ministry of External relations and United Nations High Commission for Refugees(UNHCR), had earlier protested on behalf of the refugees in Cameroon. This came with its fortunes as well as shortcomings. In the Far North Region, the refugees were facing evacuation by the Regional Administrator of that jurisdiction.
Following caution from some of the UNHCR aid personnel that were there in the camp, Midjiyawa had to understand that, most of these homeless brothers and sisters who had abandoned and fled their homes in Neighbouring Nigeria due to Boko haram threats, had nowhere to go to and that if they were sent away, they would be exposed to more insecurity.
According to statistics, this Region has since 2013 received over 70, 000 Nigerian refugees escaping from Boko Haram. Just the Minawao camp had welcomed 60,103 refugees since its creation in July 2013.
It has equally been noticed that the growing population of these Nigerian refugees has now reached the extent that, a camp strictly made up of only Nigerian refugees is gradually being created in this Northern locality. They now number about 900 of them.
Midjiyawa Bakari, speaking to the CRTV disclosed that, “this camp is not secured; we don’t know who is who. I think it is nice that, this population go back home”. He had thought of sending the refugees to Banki in Nigeria but considering the security conditions, he had to withdraw the decision back.

Cameroon long serving president, has just signed a decree authorising the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional development, to sign an agreement with a Chinese bank for the borrowing of the sum of 45.9 billion FCFA.
This money is destined for an urban video surveillance project, which was nursed in 2014. The plan is to install 1500 surveillance cameras in the 10 Regional headquarters of Cameroon as well as 7 strategic border zones among which features the famous Far North Region border with Nigeria, which is frequently molested by Boko Haram jihadists.
An experimental phase of this project went functional one year ago, mainly used for official ceremonies. It was used during the last women African cup of Nations that Cameroon hosted from the 19 of November, to the 3rd of December 2016.
Earlier this year in mid February, a Chinese firm, Huawei technologies, signed an agreement with the Cameroon government for the installation of this very system in some key locations in the Yaounde city. This same enterprise will provide 2000 transmitters and receivers equipped with cameras. They will equally make available 9 command and information rooms with a National system of communication and a managing system of emergency calls.
The Cameras shall be powered using electrical energy as well as solar energy.
Images taken by this Cameras, will eventually be transmitted to the General Delegation for National Security where they will be stored for future use in case of an investigation or in any circumstance where need be.
