Yaounde:One Dead, Two Injured After Collapse of Stadium
A laborer lost his life and two others were seriously injured following the collapse of a portion of the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium currently under rehabilitation. The incident occurred around 9:30 am in the right flank of the tribune, situated beside the presidential stand. Three workers were busy working when the incident occurred, one died on the spot and two others were rushed to the CNPS hospital in Yaoundé.
A worker Parfait NGOUANG has revealed that workers are not secured at the construction site. He was recently hit by a plank on the head leaving him with wounds. A commission of enquiry has been put in place by the Prime minister’s office, while the Attorney General has opened investigation. The incident is happening just a week after the Prime Minister visited the stadium to inspect the level of work done. The Yaoundé Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium is among other playing grounds to host the 2016 female AFCON and the 2019 AFCON.
