The death of a young man by name Ndindong Robert who died on the night of Easter Friday at the entrance to the Etoug-Ebe Baptist church as he was riding home with his fiancée has caused a lot of commotion among his peers and have been described by many as extremely tragic. According to his close friends and relatives, Ndindong Robert was an extremely intelligent young man who was frustrated by Cameroon’s corruption and tribalism before becoming a Bike rider in the nation’s capital. They all seem to be pointing an accusing finger at regime in place.

According to close sources, Robert was born in Oku in the NW Region of Cameroon, where he attended both his primary and secondary schools before proceeding to the University of Dschang in the Western Region.

He graduated from the University of Dschang with a first degree in the faculty of law and political science in 2012. Ever since he completed university, Robert embarked on writing competitive exams to pursue a career in Cameroon.

He succeeded in the written session of ENAM 2012;

He succeeded in the written session of ENAM 2013;

He succeeded in the written session of ENAM 2014;

He succeeded in the written session of ENAM 2015 both cycle A and B; and

He succeeded in the police exams both commissioner of Police and ‘Officier de Police’

Unfortunately Robert never succeeded in the Oral part of any of the above exams. Many suspect that corrupt officials must have been removing his name each time he passed the oral exams probably because he had no one to stand up for him.

A close family relation reveals how they had made attempts to contact elites of his village to intervene to see to it that his name was not removed unjustly.

“We made efforts to contact elites from the North West who hold strategic positions in the Government for them to interfere for transparency, so that he can get his merited entrance into these institutions” he says. We contacted present Prime Minister, Yang Philemon; Paul Mbongo who holds the position of private secretary to the PM, Mkong Philp Yunji, who is an attachée at the presidency, and many others, but no help was forth coming from that direction” he adds in tears.

Onlookers say the government is the indirect cause of his death and should be held responsible for Robert’s demise.

The shameful incident happened yesterday April 18, 2017 around the Ndokoti tunnel. A man seemingly in his early 40s was busy easing himself closely behind some female traders when he was brutally chased away and jeered at for over one hour.

According to the women the man was passing urine on the spot where they expose foodstuff for sale. 

Eye witnesses say the man who tried to escape after the act, was encircled by the traders and ushered along the street to Boulangerie Saker for the public to see. They say the women were shouting and shaming the man as they escorted him along.

A motorcycle rider condemns the act staged by the women saying ``the man is not to blame. “Some of the women who are spearheading this spectacle also pee at odd places when they are very pressed. I don’t see a reason why they should humiliate this man like they are doing” says the angry motorcycle rider.

An onlooker says the city council should provide public restrooms along the streets where people can conveniently ease off rather than always doing it openly in inappropriate places as it is the case with most men.

Three people, including a woman and her baby, died on Easter Sunday, shortly after 12 am, in  a traffic accident on the Yaounde-Douala highway. The head on collision was between a Mazda passenger vehicle  and a 70 seater interurban transport bus running which was approaching from the opposite direction.

The accident occurred at a locality called Ebombe, about thirty kilometers from the city of Edéa, a suburb in the Littoral region, which is about an hours drive from Douala.

Three individuals  were reported death on the scene including a woman and her baby. Three others were seriously injured .

The three wounded were evacuated to a hospital in Douala, while the remains of the deceased were kept in a morgue at a local hospital in Edea.

According to initial police reports, the cause of the accident had been attributed to excess speed and reckless overtaking.

It has been weeks now that residents of the Dakar neighbourhood in the economic capital of Cameroon have been complaining of frequent electricity seizures. They say, ENEO, the lone electricity company in the country is doing more harm than good.

An inhabitant of the neighbourhood recounts what they go through every day as far as electricity is concerned.

She says “Electricity here is very elliptical. Sometimes it seizes for weeks. During such periods shop owners make lots of losses and housewives suffer because their food gets bad. Those who operate Barbing Shops, Internet Cyber Cafes and others are left to gnash their teeth. When the electricity manages to come back, it comes with high voltages and blows up household appliances like Refrigerators, Television sets and a host of many others”.

On the other hand, the electricity company has blamed the situation on a damaged transformer. They have promised to solve the problem but have stressed that inhabitants of the area should be on the alert and put off electrical appliances each time there is blackout in order not to lose them.

Following the burglary that took place on the night of Sunday 2 April 2017 at Feu Rouge Bessengue in Douala where  more than 10 offices where robbed, occupants say there is high probability that the thieves collaborated with the security guards who were supposed to be on duty that night. 

Reports say the thieves made away with valuable office items such as Television sets, computers and huge sums of money.

According to one of the occupants, it is impossible for thieves to successfully break into ten offices in a line and the security guards are not aware.

“I don’t think it is possible for thieves to use filling machines to cut down 10 iron doors and loot valuables from offices and even one of the security guards does not notice. I suspect complicity in this because it doesn’t make sense” says the victim.

Inhabitants of that area have been stricken with fear by the incident as they fear that the hoodlums who are still at large may hit again.

The police have called on the population of the Bessengue area to collaborate with them in order to facilitate the investigation.

The population of the town of Melong was last week was shocked as a 75 year old woman was raped to death.

Reports say the naked body of the 75 years old woman was discovered in a bush in the early hours of Wednesday last week. The injuries sustained on her suggested that the crime could have involved at least 5 men.

Inhabitants of the small town were both shocked and terrified by the incident. Many wondered aloud what motivated such an act.

"Up till now, nobody knows what caused this terrible act. We are all shocked at this incident. How can a 75 year old woman be raped, not to talk of raping her to death" asks a terrified local.

Melong inhabitants say they are counting on the collaboration of the police to hunt down the culprits who up till now are still nowhere to be found.

"We are all afraid because the criminals are on the loose. He can hit again any time. We hope on the police to track down whoever that did this and bring him to book because as long as he is at large, we are not safe.

Reports say the police have opened investigations into the matter to see to it that peace returns to Mekong again.
