Anglophone crisis: Amba separatists murder father of military officer
The father of Major Ekokola Nathaniel Nwese has reportedly been killed by pro-separatist forces in Mundemba, South West region.
The murderers are said to have left a note which claims that the killing was in retaliation to the alleged massacre of Southern Cameroonians in Mamfe.
Major Ekokola is the company commander of the gendarmerie in Manyu.
Opinion about the incident is divided in Southern Cameroons. Some people condemn it as an act that has crossed bounds. Others see a just act of revenge.
The incident that occurred earlier on Friday comes barely hours after at least three paramilitary and police personnel were murdered on Thursday.
As clashes intensify between government forces and separatists forces, several Southern Cameroonians continue to rush to Nigeria for refuge. It is estimated that over 34,000 refugees from Ambazonia are currently in Nigeria.
