After Charles Metouck, former GM of SONARA who was handed a 15 years jail term this week, the Special Criminal Court is expected to make public its verdict today Friday as part of the second phase of Operation Sparrowhawk, in the case involving the former General Manager of the Cameroon Airports Authority (ADC), Roger Ntongo Onguéné.
The ADC affair was heard for the first time by the Special Criminal Court on Jan. 14, 2015. Prosecutors and defense counsel meticulously went through the case within a 10 months period. The verdict revealed our source at the Special Criminal Court will be delivered today in Yaounde. Hon. Roger Ntongo Onguene was charged with alleged misappropriation of 1 093 000 000 000 CFA francs.

The Director General of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), Abdoulaye Babale has installed into function some 25 officials of the election rigging institution. The officials appointed on 29th September 2015 were commissioned on the 21st October 2015 in a ceremony in Yaounde, the nation's capital.
The ELECAM boss exhorted the new members of the Cameroon election board to work hard so as to meet up with the mission of the institution. Abdoulaye Babale disclosed with satisfaction that ELECAM has surpassed its voter registration target for 2015 by 44 per cent. A total of three divisional heads and 22 unit leaders were installed during the ceremony.

After nearly two years of a marathon legal battle, the Special Criminal Court in Yaoundé has pronounced its verdict on the case involving the former general manager of the National Refining Company (Sonara), Charles Metouck. In the decision that was read late this Wednesday, October 21, 2015, Charles Metouck, and Jean Jules Edinguele one of his co-defendants were sentenced to 15 and 12 years imprisonment respectively. They were convicted for embezzlement from the public treasury and SONARA.
The other co-defendants, Dikoumé Leonard and Ngalle Mouelle were acquitted. Cameroon Concord Intelligence Unit gathered that no process of recovering the 500 million FCFA reportedly misappropriated by the Metouck gang was included in the judgment. The 65 years old, Charles Metouck headed Sonara for eleven years before being sacked under funny circumstances on February 15, 2013 and replaced by the current General Manager, Ibrahim Talba Malla.

Things are falling apart for three former Cameroon government ministers. Lazare Essimi Menye, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Jean Pierre Biyiti Bi Essam of Posts and Telecommunications and Bernard Messengue Avom, former Minister of Public Works have all had their passports withdrawn and told not to leave the country. The former highly placed government officials are facing corruption charges.

The Government Delegate to the Douala Urban Council, Fritz Ntone Ntone and the Senior Divisional Officer for Wouri were told today that a hundred and fifty corpses have been abandoned in mortuaries in the city of Douala. The information was handed to both CPDM officials during a meeting to fight against urban disorder organized by mayors of the Douala city council.
The Laquintinie hospital is carving the lion's share with as many as 100 corpses whose owners have disappeared in thin air. Cameroon government officials are now calling on concerned families to remove the dead bodies as quickly as possible, otherwise they will be buried in a cemetery in the economic capital.
