Saif al-Islam Gaddafi has been freed by an armed group in western Libya where he was being held following the 2011 revolt against his late father, former leader Muammar Gaddafi, one of his lawyers and the brigade involved said.
He was released in the town of Zintan under an amnesty law passed by a parliament based in eastern Libya, lawyer Khaled al-Zaidi said on Sunday, adding that Saif was headed to another city which could not be named for security reasons.
Saif, 44, is the most prominent of the late leader's children, and was touted by some as a possible successor before the uprising six years ago in which Gaddafi was toppled and killed.
It is unclear what role the younger Gaddafi could play in Libya, where a complex array of armed groups and competing governments are vying for control.
But some in eastern Libya, where military commander Khalifa Haftar has been building power, have been pressing for Saif's release amid a push from former regime figures to reassert influence.
Earlier reports that Saif had been freed from Zintan turned out to be false and there have been conflicting reports about his status.
Zintan's Abubaker Sadiq brigade, which was responsible for guarding Saif, said it had decided to release him following requests from the ministry of justice of a government based in eastern Libya.
"We decided to release Saif al-Islam Muammar Gaddafi, who is free, and we confirm that he left Zintan on the date of his release on the 14th of Ramadan (Friday)," the brigade said.

FROM Hon WIRBA
TO OUR PRISONERS WITHOUT A CRIME WHO ARE ON HUNGER STRIKE!
My Heart Bleeds my dear brothers about your ordeal! I send this message to plead with you to please end your hunger strike.
My reasons are simple. We are dealing with an inhumane government which does not think we are human enough. A government that kills children in the streets for demonstrating will care less if others die in prison! A government that tortures female university students, rapes them and rub them in sewage filth will care less if you all die in prison!
If you all died out there from hunger, they will in fact be happy that the number of those resisting their oppression has reduced!
As your brother who has undergone untold suffering, and an attempt on his life, I plead with you all on my knees to please end the hunger strike immediately, so that we all can live to fight our oppressors another day!
You have proven to the whole world what you are made of and West Cameroonians are very proud of you! Please call off your hunger strike and begin eating by drinking a lot of water and light liquid meals like pap and smooth beverages like chocolate, milk and Ovaltine!
I love you very much and will continue fighting for us to take back what is ours from this colonial regime! God bless you abundantly and strengthen your resolve to keep fighting for our people!

Speaking to a friend who visited them this week he justified his shabby appearance in court as a sign of the hunger strike they were going thru. For those who cried seeing him that way he said he had no regrets. It was not meant to provoke tears but action. He stated that he was not in prison to entertain anyone with nice dresses. That he is planing to appear naked next time. He said he knew the consequence of being arrested but stayed on. That his close friends forbah Jude and Piterechu pressured him to escape but he refused. That after the arrest of Balla and fontem even government officials called him to escape but he refused. He was ready to stay and be arrested. He said he is not afraid to die, because his death will spark a thirst for freedom amongst his people. About the GCE he said he is also a history teacher and has not taught since November 2016, his two schools Have remained locked since November and he is in prison with 3 of his evening school students who are to write the exams.
Asked about any difficulties in prison he complained of overcrowding. no water, hot temperatures illnesses and legalized corruption. About the court case he said there is no case.He refused to explain but reported there is no case.He asked me if Kenya can go and arrest Nigerians and come to judge them in Kenya?on feeding he said they eat once a day and the food is provided by contributions from anglophones and food is almost finished. That he rejected several offers from LA republic. He swore to die poor or die in prison than touch blood stained evil money from such a terrorist regime. He describes LA republic as an animal that eats its own children. Asked if any negotiations have been proposed he said negotiations have ended.its either freedom for us or total elimination of us all.
Asked how his family survives he said he was the sole bread winner for a family of 9 n doesn't know how they eat especially that 4 of the 9 are below 7yrs.he said they must learn to suffer as the coming days may even be more di fficult.I did not ask his permission b4 publishing this but thought its good to share.I've never seen a young man full of courage n determination.
Boiling with assurance even in prison. I went in feeling depressed but came out fulfilled. I remembered his last words near that old dirty plank gate.somehow someday Justice will rule over evil n we will leave this place n sit on tables to define our destiny.even if am not there, children of my nation will be there n I will smile in my grave.

The administrative block of Government Bilingual High School Babessi, the lone GCE examination centre in the Ngohketunjia Division of the North West region, has been razed to ashes, according Cameroon daily news
It happened this morning by the early hours of 8 to 9:00am. This leaves the teachers of the school asking themselves what they will do as the 2016/2017 examination session begins on Monday 12 June 2017.
Reliable sources suggest that the perpetrators of the act might have targeted the writing material to be used for the examination. The people behind the act are yet unknown.
La Republique and its partners living in Southern Cameroons do not want to learn their lessons from the silent manifestations, the determined Ambazonian fighters are putting up against them. After having their cars, their shops and public institutions burnt they still remain adamant.
The GCE will be starting on Monday, and it will take guts beyond imagination for any headstrong parent to send their child to school for the Exam.
The reason why most sympathizers of the beloved struggle, don’t see any reason why the Exam should hold is because, the majority of those who were supposed to sit in for the Exam session, have not been going to school.

Security sources say one soldier of the Rapid Intervention Battalion(BIR) was killed on Friday night breaking Saturday 10 June when a suicide bomber detonated the explosives.
Reports say the attacker had managed to evade security systems to enter the protected zone of BIR in Kolofata. Two other soldiers got injured, Cameroon-Info.Net reports.
At least three other attackers passed away on Friday without any other casualties.
In under two weeks the Far North has witnessed about ten attacks. The most deadly happened on 02 June and claimed 11 lives and left several persons injured.
Cameroon has been in this war against the terror group since 2014 . Paul Biya unilaterally declared war in France that same year.
As the soul of the fallen hero rests in peace, the fate of some of his colleagues is uncertain, as possible sanctions await from Biya for having staged a protest to demand unpaid bonuses. The protest occurred a week ago in the Far North. Later on the soldiers were airlifted to Yaoundé.

Another suicide bomber has carried out a failed attack in the Far North region of Cameroon, precisely In Bouvare (Kolofata). No other casualties besides the bomber.
The attack happened in the evening of Friday after three other attackers had attempted other failed attacks in the same region earlier in the morning.
So, in under 24 hours four suicide bombers have passed on without any additional lives in the region.
The strength of the terror group is apparently dwindling. At the beginning in 2014, such suicide attacks would claim scores of lives, both civilians and soldiers.
But the last series of attacks in under four days have been fruitless altogether. A woman and an 8-year-old girl blew themselves up on Wednesday and injured only two persons.
This is coming at a time when some of the soldiers engaged in the war are about to face sanctions from Biya for having staged a protest for unpaid bonuses and other expenses.
