The 27th edition of the day of the African child, is being commemorated today 16 June 2017 all over Africa. In Cameroon, it will be marked by the holding of the children’s parliament in Yaounde.
During this meeting, the children parliamentarians will have the opportunity to ask questions to government ministers, concerning the well being of the child in Cameroon. In the present era, children have been facing trafficking of all sorts. The kids are transformed into slaves, who do everything for their elders, no matter how tedious the tasks might be.
This year’s edition is celebrated under the theme, “the 2030 agenda for a sustainable development in favour of children in Africa: let’s encourage their protection, their empowerment and equal opportunities for all”
Some activities are being carried out to mark this day. Yesterday, the Minister of Social Affairs, Pauline Irene Nguene opened a forum called “child Protection Boulevard”. This forum according to her, is an opportunity for stakeholders who are leading this fight for the children, to sensitize and educate the population on the essence of protecting our children from all forms of violence.
Activities for the day continue today at the National Museum in Yaounde. Parents in particular, will be drilled by experts on how they should respect the rights of their kids, as well as set their limits. The right of children to education, will equally be emphasised on, as that is one of the most important things a parent can ever give their child in this life.

A suicide attack on Wednesday day night claimed one life and injured nine others in the Far North region of Cameroon.
The incident happened in the locality of Sandawadjiri, according to Prime News.
The same news site reports that a previous attack had claimed only the life of the bomber in the locality of Amchide.
The Far North Region has been under perpetual and sporadic attacks from the terror group since 2014.
In under three weeks about ten or more attacks have hit the region. The most deadly was at the beginning of the month when 11 persons perished with dozens more injured.
But government appears to be making significant gains in recent months , especially as the terror group now carries out failed attacks that claim mostly the lives of its own militants.
At the early stage of the insurgency suicide bombings would claim scores of lives on almost a daily basis.

The Board Chair of the GCE Board, Prof Peter Abety is reported to have been counting his losses following a mysterious fire incident in his school and home. The cause incident which took place over the weekend is yet to be established but its widely rumored that the act cannot be dissociated from the recent arsons in the English speaking territory of Cameroon..
Prof Abety has come under fire for his fearless position to push through with GCE exams despite mammoth threats of boycott. The exam to most bitter Anglophones is being seen as a political manipulation rather than a good will to give children good education.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the real cause of the inferno.

SCACUF has received information that Biya's Government is planning to threaten Nigerian businesses operating in Southern Cameroon with very high taxes if they don't open on ghost town days. The plan is to force Nigerians to open their shops, then have their agents burn the shops and kill some of them in the name of the struggle. They are hoping that such a tactic would persuade the Nigerian government to repatriate our leaders who are in exile there.
Presse Statemen from SCACUF:
Dear Southern Cameroonians, Ambazonians, God has once more exposed Yaounde. A plan still being conceived
by evil men to cause confusion and unimaginable pain to our people has been exposed. The plan that was supposed to be executed in the weeks ahead was intended to pit Southern Cameroonians against LRC's not too friendly giant neighbour, Nigeria.
If the plan had not been revealed and so foiled by this exposure, Yaoundé would have proceeded to attempt stopping
the present momentum by:
1) Blackmail the Nigerian business communities in Bamenda, Kumba and Kumbo into violating the ghost towns by inflicting on them extraordinarily high taxes. This is for phase one.
2) The next would have followed logically and many would have fallen for it, hook and worm; Yaoundé would then
target "quelques boutiques des Biafrais" for arson, total burning and blame it on the SCACUF and run away Consortium
leaders in Nigeria.
3) In the event where this did not meet the required response from Abuja, dark hands from Yaoundé would then
set ablaze the residences of already targeted Nigerians and eliminate some of them. These would obviously be seen
as an attack by the Consortium and SCACUF based in Nigeria. Yaoundé would then use these as evidence that SCACUF and the Consortium are terrorist organisations. Out of anger, Abuja is expected to order for the leaders of the struggle to be rounded up and handed over to Yaoundé to face "justice".
However, God who ordained this struggle does not sleep and has once more exposed this most cynical plot that would certainly have dealt a very serious setback to the struggle.
The Consortium uses this opportunity to call on our people for more vigilance, and by this, send strong warning signals to agents of extortionist Yaoundé against any such selective tax hikes as it shall be resisted. We call on our Nigerian
counterparts living in the Southern Cameroons to continue to feel at home and not to suffer from any intimidation. We shall soon be publishing a series of numbers on which information concerning tax agents who may come
round to extort for exposure.
God is with us.
