Imagine Cameroon on June 26 after beating Germany to qualify for the semi-finals...Marc-Vivien Foe!
That's nothing else but the image of  broken dreams .
Cameroon and their fans have entered the second day of morning following their 3-1 defeat by the all-powerful young German team at the ongoing 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.
The Lions failed on Sunday to qualify for the semi-finals. 
That defeat was not an ordinary tale, but a finger that pulled the trigger of tears in Cameroon.
Victory on Sunday would have comforted the lions who wanted to give a triumphant honour to their senior teammate who collapsed on the pitch and died during the 2003 Confederations Cup.
Marc-Vivien Foe, whose 14th anniversary clocked today June 26, collapsed on the field during a match against Colombia.
In spite of this huge lost, Cameroon didn't bring the trophy home, as they were beaten by the merciless French team, which was never willing to sympathise with the broken boys.
And worse still, the same Colombia were merciless with Cameroon during their international friendly on June 13, 2017 in Spain. They beat the Lions 4-0.
But the boys of Hugo Broos appeared to be dreaming bigger, hoping to trample on so-called young and inexperienced German squad as well as Australia and Chile.
But then it was rather hallucinatory. The Lions left Russia without a win and just two goals.
A win over Germany would have attracted the same drama which they acted recently in Gabon after beating Egypt to win the trophy.
They had displayed jerseys in honour of Foe, with the  inscription "Champions" , bearing the number "17", Foe's.

The former coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon has dismissed claims that Samuel Eto'o cast a  spell on his former teammate Joseph Desire Job during the 2000 AFCON in Ghana.
The coach was reacting to claims from Bernard Tchoutang that Samuel Eto'o had applied magical powers on Job in order to take his place.
Speaking on SFR Sport, the French man disclosed that Eto'o was no match for Job. Job was good but Eto'o was better.
Besides, he was the sole decision maker.  
"I lived that edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana. Job's first matches were average but Samuel excelled during every training session," he revealed.
"The decision maker was me, not any magician," he continued.
According to him, Eto'o deserved it.
"I had observed that he would become one of the best attackers in the world. And I don't think I was wrong," he said.
Eto'o had previously reacted to the claims from his former teammate whom he described as being"bitter and jealous".
Eto'o is one of the most outstanding players in the history of African football. He has won the Best African Footballer of the Year Award four times. A position of prestige which he shares only with Yaya Tore of Ivory Coast.

Despite Fabrice Ondoa’s formidable goal keeping, Cameroon lost to Germany 1-3. This means the African representatives are out of the championship of champions in Russia.

The lions had begun the match with some bitterness in them, not smiling with the Germans. They played good football, till the moment when, German midfielder Kerem Dermibay slipped in the first goal at the 48^th minute. This greatly dampened the spirits of Hugo Broos and his boys as even fighting for a draw could not save them. They needed a win, which they did not get in the end.

The African squad entered the second half, hoping for a better outcome, but that was not the case. The Cameroonian defence became restless as the German side gave them much work. This pressure resulted in two goals during this second half which put the score at 3-1, after Aboubakar made a difference with his header from the right upright.

It is worth noting that, the public witnessed a historic incident during this encounter, which saw Siani awarded a red card for no reason. It is only after video checks that it was discovered that Mabouka was the guilty one an then consequently, the decision was reversed and Ernest Mabouka was sent out.

This defeat means that, Cameroon is out and Germany moves to the semi-finals. In the Chile-Australian match, the Chileans emerged winners after ending in a draw and will move to the semis alongside Germany in group B.

The indomitable Lions will lock horns with Germany, the World cup defending champions at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Russia today June 25 at 4:00pm.

Cameroon would have felt more comfortable playing this match against the world number one, if they had defeated Australia in their last match which ended up in a 1-1 draw.

Still occupying the last spot on the group B classification table, Hugo Broos who always sounds confident about his squad despite their shortcomings, still believes strongly that they will make it to the semi-finals.

The reason why Cameroon can have hopes of progressing is because, Germany has a very young team which is not as strong as the one which is known with the likes of; Thomas Muller, Tony Kroos, Ozil, and a host of many others.

The lions have to obligatorily win this encounter. If they succeed to put in 3 goals to nothing, that will be more advantageous to them.

At the same time today, Chile will clash against Australia. This match will equally have an impact on the fate of the indomitable lions given that, their win in the encounter against the Germans will make sense only if Chile wins or Draws with Australia.
