Samuel Eto'o has rubbished rumours that he has offered FCFA 1.5 million to each of the about 250 Cameroonian migrants repatriated from Algeria recently.
The unsuccessful migrants had attempted to cross over to Europe before being blocked in Algeria.
The government of Cameroon reportedly pledged FCFA 65,000 to each of the repatriated migrants.
"Several websites have spread rumours that I gave some money to all the repatriated migrants,[ which is] a trending topic. These rumours are absolutely baseless," Eto'o writes.
The former captain of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon has used the opportunity to advise his "brothers and sisters" that "love prevents more trouble than money can handle".
Samuel Eto'o is currently playing with Antalyaspor in the Turkish super league.

The national insurance company building in Yaoundé has been robbed.
This comes just a few days after the lower house of parliament was set ablaze to reportedly destroy evidence of gross financial misconduct.
The building doesn't house money or jewellery.
Only important documents about sales and expenditures are kept in the building situated in the Okola neighbourhood in Yaoundé.
So why did robbers attack the building?
Certainly to take away documents to destroy evidence of mismanagement or embezzlement.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday night breaking Friday, with the offices of the service head and those of people on special missions at the institution being the targets.
Real trouble!
The company is reportedly heavily indebted in spite of the steady flow of money therein.
Ministers Gregoire Owona and Alamine Ousmane Mey reportedly ordered an inquiry into the debts on November 17.
And the general manager is believed to be at the centre of all the drama, especially in the wake of the said inquiry.
It's reported that the debts could amount to over FCFA 50 billion.
About FCFA 17 billion is owed the personnel of the company, which is money generated as a result of pay increase which Mr Mekulu has reportedly refused to give to the personnel since 2014.
Assured people are reportedly owed about 34 billion, which is part of their insurance benefits.
And a lot more.

Cameroon Concord has just leared that there was a fire incident at Government Bilingual High School Fontem .
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday night. It's reported that only the administrative building was razed by the fire.
Fontem is found in Lebialem division of the South West region. The cause of the fire is still unclear though fingers are already pointing at Ambazonian separatists who are campaigning against school resumption in Southern Cameroons until January.
Even the Biya regime has been accused by some observers of burning schools to blame it on Southern Cameroonians in a bit to have enough reason to oppress the people all the more.

At least 184 people have been killed and dozens injured in a shooting attack and bombing at a mosque in the restive Sinai Peninsula, state TV says.
Police officers said militants attacked al-Rawdah mosque in the town of Bir al-Abd, 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the North Sinai provincial capital of el-Arish, during Friday prayers.
The attack reportedly targeted the supporters of Egyptian security forces attending prayers there.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, which had the hallmarks of the Daesh-affiliated Velayat Sinai terrorist group.
President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi convened an emergency security meeting soon after the attack, state television reported. The Egyptian president announced three days of national mourning.
The Sinai Peninsula has been under a state of emergency since October 2014, after a deadly terrorist attack left 33 Egyptian soldiers dead.
Over the past few years, militants have been carrying out anti-government activities and fatal attacks, taking advantage of the turmoil in Egypt that erupted after the country's first democratically-elected president, Mohamed Morsi, was ousted in a military coup in July 2013.
Velayat Sinai has claimed responsibility for most of the assaults. The group later expanded its attacks to target members of Egypt’s Coptic Christian community as well as foreigners visiting the country. That has prompted the government to impose the state of emergency and widen a controversial crackdown, which critics say has mostly targeted dissidents.
